The Cutthroat fishing was a little spotty this week with the dark day/bright day/dark day weather
we were having. The fish were really tucked up under over hanging trees and below structure.
patterns as far as you can. The south sound is still the place to be, however the middle sound
right in there with them.

Nice work to Mike, Dennis and Don. Casting champs!

This is a great time of year to start planning your next trip with Sound Fly Fishing. We are filling
up fast for the summer months and are excited about what is to come.
June 28

We are booking  very fast for the summer months. Please have a few dates in mind when
calling to book a trip.

In the last week of June Sound Fly Fishing found themselves plenty of fish. This summer has
been great for Cutthroat. Eel grass is growing long this month and is the ideal hiding and
feeding spot for the Cutts. We have been doing well with smaller flies in the bonefish type and of
We had some really good minus tides that allowed for some exploratory missions. The South
Cutthroat off of the middle and north sound beaches.

Pink Salmon will be returning this year. We are expecting just under 6 million to head back into
Puget Sound.

Wow, what a summer! Thank you to all of you who fished with us.

Right now is our absolute favorite time of year to be out. Big cutthroat are cruising around
looking for that last bit of food before heading upstream in the north sound.

In the south sound the cutthroat will remain eating everything and getting full on baitfish, krill
and, of course, attractor patterns. Fish over eel grass, oyster beds, and rocks. The sunny days
have been putting the fish off into deeper, more protected areas. During the overcast, darker
days we have been doing very ,very well. We have good tides this month.

The coho fishing has been spectacular as well. Look for large numbers in the next few weeks.
Chums are also on the way.

Happy New Year!!!
Thank you to those of you who fished with us this past year. You made Sound Fly Fishing the
number one guide service for Puget Sound fishing.

Fishing has been incredible as of late. We have had great success on top as well as
underneath. Rob and I were talking and we both agree that NOW is the time to be fishing Puget
Sound. We have seen the most BIG fish caught in January and February then any other months.
Stick to the south sound and throw everything you have at them. Some of our Fav flies for this
time of year are: Bait fish minnows in grey, smaller orange over white attractor patterns, mini
gurgler and the saltwater deception in chartreuse.

Winter steelhead fishing in the salt has been good as well. We recently  had a two fish day off of
a very big island up north.

Keep an eye out for resident coho.  We should be getting good numbers this year. If it was
anything like last year you will be in for a treat.

We are working on our blog but have not been very good at posting on it yet. Too much fishing...

There are a few big changes coming for Sound Fly Fishing this month...Keep your eyes and
ears open for them.

We are almost full for January so book quickly!

Well with all the rivers closing its time to start thinking about beach fishing if you haven’t already.

February is the month when the salmon smolt start thinking about their outward migration from
the rivers. Cutthroat can stack up against the river mouths and estuaries and feed like mad.
This is also the time of year when the cutthroats will begin spawning. The key to February and
March fishing is finding the fish. Move from beach to beach and keep your fly in the water.
Cooler darker days will be best.

We have great days out a few slow ones. The slow days came from bright skies and high
pressure building.

The resident coho fishing has been picking up as well.
